The City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team are here to ensure that every resident of the City of Kawartha Lakes has access to a family doctor working in collaboration with interdisciplinary health providers.

Board of Directors

Dr. Ruth Wilson

President

Dr Wilson completed her family medicine residency in Thunder Bay and has lived in Lindsay for 14 years. She practises family medicine and obstetrics. She was a founding member of the CKL FHT and is happy to be involved with the board again. When not working, she and her family enjoy many of the wonderful outdoor activities that the Kawarthas have to offer.

Dr. Stuart Bothwell

Dr. Bothwell completed an undergraduate degree in the Bachelor of Arts & Science program at McMaster University (2004), received his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Western Ontario (2008), and returned to McMaster for his residency training in Family Medicine (2010). Since his graduation in 2010, he has happily lived and worked in Lindsay with the City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team.

Dr. Marina Pretorious

Dr. Marina Pretorius is a family physician practicing in Lindsay. Dr. Pretorius also provides obstetrical care, including management of labour and delivery for pregnant patients and in-hospital newborn care at Ross Memorial Hospital. Dr. Pretorius has served on the FHT Board in past years and is active in the local family medicine professional community. She is known for her high-quality care and compassionate approach with her patients.

Dr. Bert Lauwers

Dr. Bert Lauwers is a physician and executive with over four decades of leadership in clinical practice, public health, and healthcare administration. He earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from the University of Toronto and spent his career practicing family medicine and emergency medicine and at the Office of the Chief Coroner. Dr. Lauwers has served as President and CEO of Ross Memorial Hospital and Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff of the Scarborough Health Network. Dr. Lauwers also holds a Master of Public Policy, Administration, and Law degree from York University and certificates in Public Management and Leading Sustainable Strategic Change from the Schulich School of Business.

Carolyn Daynes

Treasurer

Dedicated Chartered Accountant (CA) with twelve years of Treasurer and nine years of Deputy Treasurer experience with the City of Kawartha Lakes. Extensive experience in municipal auditing and systems for over 25 years. Expertise in general ledger development, internal control, treasury, long term debt management, reserve management and cash management. Strong interpersonal leadership and priority setting skills

Strategic Direction

The City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team’s strategic plan provides the path to reach the team’s specific goals to enhance health care for patients and the community. Our strategy is informed by our shared values, consultation with patients and partner organizations, and commitment to providing the highest-quality, complete family health care locally. The plan includes clear, focused direction while being flexible enough to respond and adapt as circumstances evolve over the next three years. Our strategic directions for 2023 to 2026 are: having a one team culture to providing family health care; increasing access to care and delivery of health services; and working in collaboration with the community.
